Lifeview Reflection
- My life view, or what matters most to me, is fulfilling whatever I believe is my purpose in this world. I believe we are here to make the world a better, and more diverse place. I don’t think there is an exact definition for the meaning or purpose of life. I believe everyone eventually defines that for themselves on their own time depending on their passions, beliefs, and culture. I think the relationship with the individual and others solely exists for support and love. Family is the foundation of this support and the country influences the way you are raised and what you are exposed to in terms of ideas, beliefs, and ways of living. Good, to me, is whatever is not evil. What is evil, is what harms others and brings negativity into the world. However, I do believe that evil is inevitable in some circumstances so it is important that we try our best to bring as much good onto the world and ourselves. I do believe there is a God. I believe in the story of creation however I do not believe in the patriarchal mindset of todays society due to misinterpretation of the Bible. He has impacted my life heavily since I have attended Catholic schools my entire life. I have learned about him through various courses and through my own individual reflection. Joy, sorrow, justice/injustice, love, peace, and strife, are all emotions we feel throughout our lives based on experience. Each of them has their own role in teaching us a lesson whether negative or positive. However I do believe that the best emotion anyone can concur is happiness.
Workview Reflection
- I think the word “work” has many definitions in this day and age. Mostly, I feel like it is seen as something undesirable, required, or just sad. When asked the question “Why work?” I think, “Why not?” why waste the gift of life you’re given on doing nothing. Or, for the rich people who don’t have to, simply vacationing all the time. Of course it is wonderful to have money and travel the world but I feel like working should be a means of expressing your talents for money or to simply make others happy. Work to me is the labor you put in to achieve your goals and to survive and provide for your family. It relates to individuals depending on why they are working. It may be to survive, to become famous, because they are bored, because they are being forced to, or simply because it is all they have known their entire life. What defines worthwhile work is a job that does not make you miserable. A job that you do not dread waking up in the morning to go to. A job or place where you can express your talents and use your tools of education to make a living and a difference in this world. Money and work correlate in the sense that yes, most people work for money. It is important to strive to reach a job where you can be happy doing what you want, and making a good amount of money where you are not living paycheck to paycheck. Experience helps you to find a better job, but everywhere you do work, allows you to grow and gain this experience. I believe ultimate fulfillment has been reached when you a working a job you have always dreamed of and are making a great amount of money while being able to give back to the world.
